We meet every last Thursday of the month
BBF is a platform that provides an open and safe space for conversation about faith, religion, and culture and how these three facets affect and impact public life.
We live in societies torn apart by our differences, where assumptions and biases create division and conflict. As a result, our societies are developing deeper rifts and polarization.
At INTERFACE, we are convinced that one way to heal all this is through heartfelt, meaningful, and authentic conversations. We need to figure out how to talk to others in a way that conveys passion without conflict, where people can listen to challenging ideas or others with a completely different viewpoint and learn from the experience.
BBF is free and accessible to everyone regardless of race, religion, or other social differences.
Design and Process of the Baraza By the Fire Conversation

People sit around a real fireplace or a simulated one in case a real one is unavailable.

No ‘experts’ unless it has been designed as one in which someone with special expertise will share.

Participants are invited to share their stories, experiences, and perspectives.

The facilitator uses reflective questions to encourage, inspire, and keep the flow of the conversation.

Different views and perspectives are shared and received with vulnerability and grace so as not to negate what has been contributed by anyone.

Not every question raised has to be answered, and silence can be held for some time.

Every effort is made to make it a safe space for those present; this may include beginning the conversation by asking the participants to define and create the safe space for one another.

A brief reflection is facilitated at the end to enable individuals to make meaning for themselves and share insights and emerging or remaining questions.
